Conduct research to discover, develop, refine and evaluate new products such as those used in nanomedicine, nanoelectronics and other applications of chemistry, Participate in interdisciplinary research and development projects, Develop and conduct programs of analysis to ensure quality control of raw materials, chemical intermediates or final products
Responsibilities
a) Perform product and processing analyses, including all preparations and follow-up documentation (daily).
b) Maintain a Product Development project tracking system for SRED (daily)
c) Maintain policies and procedures in the Product Development area to meet legislative and corporate standards. (daily)
d) Coordinate new product set-up, plant trials, first production and product launch. (as required)
e) Supervise, and provide information to, Research Assistant or Technician for preparation to complete SOPs, Trades Specs and approve label designs. (as required)
f) Provide Cost Accountant with details on Innovation Product Development research projects, changed formula and processes, to prepare proper cost and labour set up. (as required)
g) Present proposals for new product development or process improvements to Manager, if approved assume responsibility for research project, including project implementation timetable to meet sales and/or customer demand. (as needed)
h) Provide technical advice and assistance in problem solving of production issues to the company and customers. (as needed)
i) Establish and provide product information with regard to ingredients and other specifications for sales, marketing and customer. (as required)
j) Review and sign formula and specification sheets for private label products upon approval of changes or new products. (as required
k) Meet with suppliers about new compounds, ingredients and materials for testing purposes (as required)
l) Back up for LAB Technician position (as required)
m) Responsible for plant trails and 1st production launches, inform all other departments about the product reviewing product spec and SOP’s before production is started
